Force Quit an App - How To

On occasion, an App may stop functioning properly and become unresponsive. This can cause your entire device to slow down or misbehave. Force Quit the App to release the unresponsiveness, and your device should behave correctly again.

To Force Quit an App on the Mac

  1. Choose "Force Quit" from the Apple () menu,
    Or press [Command] + [Option] + [Esc]
  2. Select the unresponsive app in the Force Quit window
  3. Click (Force Quit)

To Force Quit an App on iPhone/iPad

  1. Press the Home button two times quickly, to display the Multitasker View (You'll see small previews of your recently used apps)
  2. Swipe Left to find the app you want to Force Quit
  3. Swipe Up on the unresponsive app's preview image to Force Quit it
