Text Replacement on iPhones, iPads, Macs

For those of us on-the-go, we rely on our smartphones for dashing off email and responding to social media. One of the trickiest things to type correctly are web site URLs for our business, programs, and shared content.

With your iPhone, you can record those blocks of text and assign them easy-to-remember shortcuts, making it easier to include in posts and ensuring there are no typos. To add new information to your iPhone:

iPhone Text Replacement for URLs and Text Blocks
  1. Go into Settings
  2. Tap "General"
  3. Tap "Keyboard"
  4. Tap "Text Replacement"
  5. Tap + in the upper-right corner to add a new element
  6. Under "Phrase" type (or copy!) the URL or block of text that you want the phone to "memorize"
  7. Under "Shortcut" type the few letters you want to use to "recall" that "memorized" information
  8. Tap "Save"

Now, when you're in an email, note, post, or any other place where you can type text, type the "Shortcut" and the iPhone will automatically replace that with the full text "Phrase". Say goodbye to typos and forgotten URLs forever! :-)
